FROM AN ISLAND TO ANOTHER

On June 26th, 2018, 60 years after leaving my hometown Ribeira Grande on the island of São Miguel, I presented my exhibition FROM AN ISLAND TO ANOTHER.

I will never forget that day and the strong emotions I felt during the opening night when I also launched my book. The Municipal Museum Hall was full. Several Azorean family members were present, as well as dignitaries including Alexandre Gaudêncio, Mayor of Ribeira Grande, and Paulo Teves, Director Direção Regional of Comunidades, Governo dos Açores and numerous media. I never expected such an important reception for someone who was mostly unknown locally and whose story happened 60 years ago.
